Registrations for the Term 2 reading and numeracy Check-in assessments for Years 3-9 are now open. Year 6 also undertake an additional writing assessment.

Feedback is available in Scout and PLAN2, aligned to NSW English and mathematics syllabuses, the National Literacy and Numeracy Learning Progressions, and targeted teaching strategies

Principals in departmental schools must nominate an Check-in coordinator.

New Pre and post assessments

Additional pairs of Pre and post assessments are now available. There are 24 new pairs across Stages 2–5 to support monitoring of student learning.

Effective assessment practices guide available

The guide provides practical advice for teachers and school leaders K–10.

It aims to:

• establish a consistent understanding of evidence-based assessment advice
• provide guidance on assessment design and implementation
• support the use of evidence-based assessment strategies
• guide effective data collection and analysis in assessment.

The guide can be used:

• as a reference at point of need
• to support collaborative planning and guided conversations about assessment
• for deeper reflection on the purpose, design, and use of assessment as an individual or school.
